Art got to take the front seat in my priorities for almost seven years (well, techinically, my kids are in the front seat... or are they the bus's driver?), but now it's time for art to hop to the back of the bus again. Sigh. The front seat is now occupied by getting my masters (in Special Education). The reasons are complicated, but the easiest way explain this decision is that I need job security (salary, benefits & pension), and teaching offers that in a way that being an artist does not.

I hope to still find time to paint, but, admittedly, I have not picked up the brush in over a month now (I started school in June). I still draw in my sketchbook, but not as often, and it's mostly been nature studies rather than normal pre-painting drawings.
