Artist's Comments

Another re-working of an old painting. It's almost not recognisable any more. I think I'd like to give this one another try, and go back to the scary dark forest setting--this painting lacks drama. What do you think?

Absolutely gorgeous! I do like the color compositions contained to this picture, for that it looks professional in some sorts. Nothing extremely modern or eye-catching, but it's very neat, and well-composed for its vision, so I can't really complain. This, to me, is something I have never seen before: A lady in a romantic dress with a lamp, and holding a special basket with fantastic animals all over it. Wonderful...simply wonderful. The way its technique goes makes it look very hard to actually pull off a picture with that much sheet effort in order to prevail in succession to reception. As a matter of fact, the colors, as I would say, are excellent, if not too saturated in a few spots.

The details on the dress help to catch my eyes more-luv details. The jewelry and flower also help to draw my eyes up towards the face, which has a lovely colouring. The detail work with the strings for the sleeve(both tied and untied) are very nice. The use of the reds and browns and golds are a good pairing. I especially like the use of light for the glow of the latern on the arm & face(and the reflection of it in the door). Your fireflies are too cute, but as for the change in background, I don't honestly think it would make too much of a difference-this is due to the main focus being on the young lady and the firflies. All the tree limbs may perhaps be a bit distracting? (viewing the old version) and I notice your backgrounds are almost always detailed) If maybe the background was more of a ghostly hint of a forest, without too many details, then it may give a bit more dramatic feel to it, but I think this piece is quite stunning the way it is. Fantastic job!

Beautiful work, as always! I wish I could give a critique, but I don't see anything I would recommend changing at all. :)

The only time a character is ever allowed to sparkle in sunlight is if they grabbed a Super Star from the Mario games!

Real vampires don't sparkle. They just don't.

:iconeeeeeplz: omg, Kathleen, this is gorgeous! I've been waiting forever for someone to render a faerie dragon properly and you've nailed it - lol! What a lovely surprise to find this waiting in my "browse" lineup to day!

I agree that a dark forest would give the painting more drama... an even darker forest than the original painting would be best, in my opinion. Great job on the rework!

It's so much better than the first one. The first one wasn't bad at all, but this one has a better composition and better choice of colors. The girl's pose feels more natural too.
I love your little fairy dragons design.

Beautiful! I love the colours and the mood here—;peaceful and a little wistful. I don't think it needs more drama. :) Much, much better than the original.

Fantastic dress! It does lack drama, but there's a sense of magicalness in this that makes it special. I would like to see a darker version though, but I think that would end up being a completely different piece!

I love this newer version! Though I do have to agree it doe slack a little of the dramatics from the original. I like the newer dragonflys too. Plus the dress iss great... But I think the color choices for the original were better... cooler colors see to make things feel more dramatic to me... But as a painting by itself its Lovely!

Holyfly it's different as day and light can be !! this is one far more richer by colors and details and light work versus shadows where as the other one is more sober and has this dreamy kinda vibe.

I love this. I can see a lot of improvement. I like the old one two but since they are totally different settings and moods it would be interesting if you redid that too.
