Artist's Comments

While in New Mexico in August (yay Bubonicon!), I began a collaboration with flower artist, Margaret Summers. She makes these really pretty greeting cards using pressed flowers and stamps.

Here's my half of the collaboration, nine fairies done in watercolor pencil (without water) on Bristol Board, 11x14. She will be adding pressed flowers to create a border or otherwise add to the image.

That is a beautiful dress. Asian, but slightly different, as suits a fairy. The colour palette is lovely too.

It's sorta a cross between Chinese and Japanese costume, with dragonfly-inspired wings. I love asian arts!

Yes, I can tell you mixed cultures to create it (Chinese sleeves, Japanese torso), and it works well. I love Asian art too!

Of course, Lisajen-stock should get the praise for the pose. The series of photographs they took, the ones I used for these drawings, is really very graceful. They are my muse for this month!
